COLLEcTING & PRESERVING
Our ever-growing institution is dedicated to expanding our visitor's knowledge. Ultimately, we are in the business of education, and we believe in providing learning experiences for children and educational opportunities for adults. With our temporary exhibitions and events, as well as our permanent collections, we are sure that everyone will leave our History Museum with new knowledge.
We accept donations of historical items, assuming the donations meet the Society’s screening requirements. Our approved accessioning/deaccessioning policy provides for “collecting, preserving, conserving, restoring, and displaying artifacts, which will show life in the Millersburg/Upper Paxton Township area from pre-history to the present time.
The Museum has an obligation to bring into its permanent collection any item that was made or used in the area. Constraints of time and space prevent the literal interpretation of this obligation. Therefore, the Museum will concentrate on artifacts of significance, i.e., those artifacts that are available at the present time that may not be readily available in the future, and that the staff believes will be valuable for research or future historical documentation.
Complete the artifact donation form and a member of our staff will contact you to coordinate drop off.
